Description of Collaborative Activity: |
Nutrition Coordinating Committee (NCC) operates as an NIH-wide forum to review, stimulate, and encourage the support of nutrition research and training to better define the role of nutrition in the promotion and maintenance of health and in the prevention and treatment of disease. The NCC also plays a key role in the development of nutrition research policy at the NIH. NCC membership includes a representative and alternate from the 20 NIH Institutes and 7 Centers. In addition, offices and agencies within the DHHS, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Defense (DOD) have also appointed liaison representatives to the Committee. The NCC meets monthly to provide an open forum for members to report on current and future nutrition research, policy activities, and research funding and training opportunities. |
