Description of Collaborative Activity: |
For the 16th year in a row, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has
reported on progress and opportunities for improving healthcare quality and reducing healthcare disparities. As mandated by the U.S. Congress, the report focuses on “national trends in the quality of health care provided to the American people” (42 U.S.C. 299b-2(b)(2)) and
“prevailing disparities in health care delivery as it relates to racial factors and socioeconomic factors in priority populations” (42 U.S.C. 299a-1(a)(6)). The report is produced with the support of an HHS Interagency Work Group (IWG) and guided by input from AHRQ’s National Advisory Council and the Institute of Medicine (IOM), now known as the Health and Medicine Division of the National Academies of Sciences, Medicine, and Engineering. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Data and data from Tumor Registries are among the data for monitoring cancer related care. NCI currently Chairs the Cancer Care Sub-Committee which defines the measures/ indicators and data sources in the reports for access to and quality of cancer care received by population groups at various phases of the Cancer Care Continuum. |
