Title of Collaborative Activity:

Specialized Centers of Research (SCOR) on Sex and Gender Factors Affecting Women's Health

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The Specialized Centers of Research (SCOR) programs are large Center Programs (P50) that consist of 11 Centers that conduct interdisciplinary research focused on health issues that affect women and examine sex/gender contributions to health and disease. The currently funded SCORs are interdepartmental, intercollegiate, interinstitutional and focus on sex differences in musculoskeletal health, tobacco, addiction, substance abuse, reproductive health, urinary tract, depression, metabolic disorders and pain. The SCOR mechanism promotes collaborative research among scientists with varied expertise in order to achieve research objectives that are less likely to occur through other grant mechanisms.
