Description of Collaborative Activity: |
Production of edema toxin by B. anthracis is a key pathogenic component in the hemodynamic compromise and resistance to conventional hemodynamic support leading to death during all severe forms of anthrax infection, including inhalational disease. The aim of the present collaboration was to define employing a large animal model the efficacy of conventional hemodynamic support for anthrax edema toxin induced shock and to determine whether the use of protective antigen directed monoclonal antibody (PA-mAb) can increase the efficacy of conventional hemodynamic support. |
