The Call to Action addresses youth motivations for abuse, environmental influences in the culture at large, and other factors such as drug sharing by friends and family members, which may be helping to fuel this epidemic. It also outlines strategies pertaining both to developing and implementing prevention programs, creating national and local media campaigns, and improving clinician education and the use of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs to help prevent doctor shopping and drug diversion. Action items are included for all sectors of the community. |
