Title of Collaborative Activity:

Adolescent Health Working Group

Description of Collaborative Activity:

This interagency working group was established in January 2010 within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health as a forum for HHS agencies to share updates on adolescent health activities and address cross-cutting issues. The Adolescent Health Working Group focuses on three current near-term priorities: (1) Enrolling eligible adolescents in Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program; (2) Preventing and addressing mental disorders and promoting mental wellness in adolescents; and (3) Youth Engagement. NIMH staff worked with SAMHSA to produce a draft framework of strategies to advance priority 2: Preventing and Addressing mental disorders and promoting mental wellness in adolescents. This framework identified opportunities that could be implemented with existing resources, and proposed ideas would need additional resources.
