Title of Collaborative Activity:

Interagency Coordinating Committee on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (ICCFASD)

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The Interagency Coordinating Committee on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (ICCFASD) was created in October 1996 in response to recommendations of an expert committee of the Institute of Medicine that NIAAA chair an effort to coordinate Federal activities on fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and other disorders associated with prenatal alcohol exposure. The Interagency Coordinating Committee on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (ICCFASD) works to improve communication, cooperation, and collaboration among disciplines and federal agencies that address issues of health, education, developmental disability, research, justice, and social services relevant to FAS and related disorders caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. The ICCFASD meets twice a year and frequently arranges special conferences; the most recent was Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2011 on Recognizing Alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder (ARND) in Primary Health Care of Children.
