The National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) brings together four of the nation’s leading research funders – the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the U. S. Department of Agriculture – to address the problem of childhood obesity in America. NCCOR focuses on efforts that have the potential to benefit children, teens, their families, and the communities in which they live. A special emphasis is put on the populations and communities in which obesity rates are highest and rising the fastest. NCCOR's goals are to identify intervention needs, improve child obesity surveillance, improve research and evaluation methodologies, and provide national leadership to implement evidence-based practice and policy. NCCOR also works with many non-health partners to develop sustainable environmental design and food systems strategies to reach high risk populations and communities. |
