Title of Collaborative Activity:

B-24 Dietary Guidelines

Description of Collaborative Activity:

Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) are the official guidelines issued by the U.S. government for health promotion and disease prevention in the American population. Currently, the DGA provides guidelines for ages 2 and above. The “B-24 project” was conceived to evaluate the strength of evidence for the inclusion of infants and children from birth to 24 months in the future iterations of the DGA. The B-24 Prime meeting in February was an important step in the process and it helped the working group members deliberate and develop a final product. The proceedings from the meeting will be published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition early next year. An offshoot of the B-24 conference/project is a project where collaboration will occur mostly in FY2014 and will evaluate the evidence to develop guidelines for the nutritional care of preterm infants.
