Title of Collaborative Activity:

US-Ireland Research & Development Partnership

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The goal of the partnership is to stimulate collaborative research between the U.S. and Ireland in the area of cystic fibrosis (CF), diabetes, and nanotechnology. Government agencies and non-profit organizations, including National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases; National Science Foundation; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; R&D Office (Northern Ireland); Department of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment; Health Research Board; Science Foundation Ireland; and Inter-Trade Ireland, participate. As an outgrowth of the U.S.-Ireland R&D Partnership, a grant proposal on the role of anaerobic bacterial infection in CF was submitted to the National Institutes of Health which involves U.S.-Ireland tripartite scientific collaboration.
