Title of Collaborative Activity:

Nutrition Research Coordinating Committee

Description of Collaborative Activity:

Nutrition Research Coordinating Committee (NRCC) operates as an NIH-wide forum to review, stimulate, and encourage the support of nutrition research and training to better define the role of nutrition in the promotion and maintenance of health and in the prevention and treatment of disease. The NRCC also plays a key role in the development of nutrition research policy at the NIH. The goal of the NRCC is to review, stimulate, and encourage the necessary support of nutrition research and training and to define the role of nutrition in health promotion and disease prevention and management. NCC membership includes a representative and alternate from the 20 NIH Institutes and 7 Centers. In addition, offices and agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Defense (DOD) have also appointed liaison representatives to the Committee. The NRCC meets monthly to provide an open forum for members to report on current and future nutrition research, policy activities, and research funding and training opportunities.
