Description of Collaborative Activity: |
The NSTC Committee on Science (CoS), operated out of OSTP, aims to coordinate all Federal efforts in science by establishing a structure to improve Federal government planning and coordination of R&D and by ensuring that Federal R&D efforts are balanced, integrated, and comprehensive. One of the goals of CoS is to ensure that science is considered in development and implementation of Federal policies and programs. CoS membership includes : USDA, DoC, DoD, ED, HHS, DHS, DOI, DOJ, DOL, State, DoT, Treasury, VA, EPA, NASA, NSF, and the Smithsonian, as well as OSTP and OMB. In addition to the activities of the main committee, CoS oversees about a dozen interagency subcommittees and working groups on topics ranging from the microbiome to research business models. These subgroups often involve staff from other NIH ICs that have the appropriate subject matter expertise. |
