Title of Collaborative Activity:

Working Groups to Develop Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) HIV/AIDS Treatment and Prevention Guidelines

Description of Collaborative Activity:

There are five working groups to develop Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention guidelines. The five working groups are the 1) HHS Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents, 2) HHS Panel on Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Infected Adults and Adolescents, 3) HHS Panel on Antiretroviral Therapy and Medical Management of Children Living with HIV, 4) HHS Panel on Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Exposed and HIV-Infected Children, and 5) Panel on Treatment of Pregnant Women with HIV Infection and Prevention of Perinatal Transmission. The DHHS HIV/AIDS Treatment and Prevention Guideline Panels update guidelines for HIV/AIDS care providers with the most current information on combination antiretroviral therapy, treatment and prevention of opportunistic infections for people living with HIV, and the emergence of new knowledge on safety and efficacy in the general population as well as in pregnant women and children.
