The Interagency Coordinating Committee on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (ICCFASD) was created in October 1996 in response to recommendations of an expert committee of the Institute of Medicine that NIAAA chair an effort to coordinate Federal activities on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and other disorders associated with prenatal alcohol exposure. ICCFASD works to improve communication, cooperation, and collaboration among disciplines and federal agencies that address issues of health, education, developmental disability, research, justice, and social services relevant to FAS and related disorders caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. The ICCFASD meets twice a year and frequently arranges special conferences. |
