Title of Collaborative Activity:

Safe to Sleep

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The Safe to SleepĀ® campaign seeks to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of placing healthy babies on their backs to sleep, for naps and at night, to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The campaign also describes other ways to reduce the risk of SIDS. The NICHD offers print and electronic materials, media resources, toolkits, and continuing education programs for nurses as part of the campaign. The Safe to SleepĀ® campaign partners with minority organizations serving African American, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American communities. The campaign concentrates outreach efforts in states with high SIDS rates; these states have high minority and low-income populations.
