Description of Collaborative Activity: |
The purpose of this workshop was to review the potential impact of recent successful HIV prevention modalities on the design of subsequent prevention research studies, explore how these prevention modalities might affect the operational and ethical considerations of future prevention research, and identify research gaps and potential collaborations among prevention scientists working in multi-modality HIV prevention research. Potential topics to be discussed include: design of prevention trials (complexity of trials, sample size determinations, and choosing appropriate outcome measures); ethics of prevention trials (informed consent process, recruitment/retention, coercion, and standard of care delivery to trial participants); modeling the impact of multi-modalities on prevention studies; and integrating one or more prevention modalities into future prevention studies. |
