Title of Collaborative Activity: |
Federal Interagency Workgroup on Improving Diagnostic Safety and Quality in Health Care. |
Description of Collaborative Activity: |
In 2015, The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine published a report titled Improving Diagnosis in Health Care that identified problems with diagnostic errors and their effect on the quality and safety of healthcare. The report outlined eight goals to reduce diagnostic error and improve diagnosis of disease. AHRQ convened a cross-agency workgroup to address the lack of dedicated research into improving medical diagnosis and reducing diagnostic failures that lead to patient harm. The working group met in March, July, and November of 2020. |
