Title of Collaborative Activity:

US-Ireland Research & Development Partnership

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The goal of the partnership is to stimulate collaborative research between the U.S. and Ireland in the area of cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and nanotechnology. Government agencies and non-profit organizations, including NHLBI, NIDDK, NSF, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, R&D Office (Northern Ireland), Dept. of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment, Health Research Board, Science Foundation Ireland and Inter-Trade Ireland, participate. As an outgrowth of the U.S.-Ireland R&D Partnership, a grant proposal on the role of anaerobic bacterial infection in CF was submitted to NIH which involves U.S.-Ireland tripartite scientific collaboration.
