Understanding sex differences within animal models is needed to develop effective biodosimeters and MCMs. Therefore, a meeting is planned to 1) explore sex differences in metabolomics and/or other biomarkers that may track with assessing acute radiation syndrome (ARS), delayed effects of acute radiation exposure (DEARE), and/or predicting the efficacy of MCMs; 2) look at effects of synchronizing estrocycle in pre-clinical studies, and pheromones when co-housing male and female animals; 3) explore regulatory challenges in clinical studies involving representation from both sexes and policies that influence inclusion of women in research, and the gaps that exist in these practices.
