Title of Collaborative Activity:

Trans-NIH Nanotechnology Task Force: National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) Call For Trans-agency Signature Initiatives

Description of Collaborative Activity:

In response to NNI’s call for Signature Initiatives, the NIH Nanotechnology Task Force (NIDCR and NIBIB representatives) together with FDA and other Federal Agencies (NIST, NSF, and DoD) have generated a draft of the Initiative entitled “Nano-Regenerative Medicine”. The overarching goals of this Initiative are to develop robust and efficient platforms for standardization, fabrication, GMP manufacturing, and regulatory approval of nanotechnology-based products that will lead to new paradigms in low-cost therapies targeting regeneration of a range of tissues in the human body affected by disease and injury. On July 24, 2009, the draft of the Initiative was submitted for review to the Office of Science and Technology Policy through NNI. In 2010, a trans-Federal Agency Working Group was formed to continue the development of this Initiative.
