SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth (SEARCH)

Description of Collaborative Activity:

SEARCH is a multi-center study designed to characterize the epidemiology of both type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes in the population aged 20 years, along with the associated complications, quality of diabetes care, and quality of life of children and youth with diabetes. SEARCH aims also include 1) the development and validation of simple and low-cost case definitions and classifications of diabetes types in youth, 2) the establishment of a repository of biological specimens, and 3) systems to maintain contact with study participants to facilitate studies of childhood diabetes. SEARCH is funded by NIDDK and CDC.
