ONDCP Methadone Modernization Interagency Workgroup |
Description of Collaborative Activity: |
This interagency workgroup (IWG) will help drive action in support of the Biden-Harris Administration goal of reducing barriers and increasing access to evidence-based treatment, specifically methadone for opioid use disorder (OUD). In line with the goals set forth in the 2022 National Drug Control Strategy, this IWG will work to review and update regulations governing opioid treatment programs (OTP) - currently the only location where patients can access methadone - to make it easier for patients to initiate and stay in treatment. This work to remove barriers to methadone access will also support the Strategy goal of increasing the availability of methadone in jails and prisons. |
